Robin and his family had a geat time at the Henty Machinery Field Day. Based at the Fox & Lillie tent with Numnuts Pioneers Jodie and Andrew Green of Aloeburn Poll Merinos, the whole family got involved with the demonstrations! The Smith kids have learned to become expert Numnuts lamb markers since arriving in Australia — although so far they’ve only been let loose on our Baaary demonstrators. Maybe next year we’ll get them doing some on-farm demos for producers…

Sheep Welfare & Husbandry Seminar Highlights https://numnuts.au/sheep-welfare-husbandry-seminar-highlights/ https://numnuts.au/sheep-welfare-husbandry-seminar-highlights/#respond Thu, 05 Sep 2019 06:32:50 +0000 https://numnuts.store/?p=4522

Robin had a fascinating day at the Macdonal & Co Sheep Welfare and Husbandry Seminar — a big day of discussion about the future of on-farm animal welfare in Australia. The Aussie wool community are really taking the lead on farm welfare issues and doing so much in this space. They should be proud and keep talking about the positive stories of Australian wool! It’s great to be around this community and have the chance to understand more about the provenience of this amazing natural fibre.

This great event featured talks from industry leaders on a range of welfare issues, with a particular focus on pain relief options during lamb marking. If you couldn’t make it along (or if you just want another to see them again!), we’ve got a couple of the talks from the seminar day for you:

Tim Mardwell (The Schneider Group)

Dr Alison Small (CSIRO)

Sheepvention 2019

Location: Hamilton VIC, Australia

Sheepvention 2019 was a first for the Numnuts team! We had a great time exploring the show – if you are into innovation, technology and sheep we doubt there is a better place in the world to come and find out the latest.

Felix & Robin (sporting his kilt) were run off their feet for the three day show, giving demos and answering questions from sheep producers and vets alike. They were delighted by the positive and proactive response Australian farmers were showing towards animal welfare.

A huge thank you to AWI for letting us exhibit with them and to Andrew Whale and all the vets at Livestock Logic in Hamilton for their support. Thank you also to Lisa Virgona at Farm Assist Stock Handling for showing Numnuts at her stand and promoting the Numnuts device to her welfare-conscious customers – it’s great to see Livestock Contractors promoting new best practices.

Check out our highlights from the show:
